They need to demonstrate backbone, last year Putin bullied them into not bringing Ukraine in as a Member Nation. Now he is over in N Korea garnering support and signing treaties.

You have to change the entry rules to allow them in NATO, you can't get into NATO while you are involved in a border dispute. I seriously doubt that most of the border nations want to push what may be a line in the sand.

It's my best guess is that the recent swing in the EU elections will change NATO's stance on Ukraine. Both in France and Germany, the two hotbed issues are immigration and military mobilization, especially with the French where Marcon is stating that he was going to send French troops. Apparently the guy on the street doesn't care much about Ukraine when it effects him.

I have no problem with Ukraine joining NATO, either before the country was attacked, or after. I just hope it doesn't lead to a larger conflict.
