And when they raced in men's races, they didn't place at all. But by all means, let them destroy women in athletic competition. It looks so good on progressive policies and intentions.

I’ve noted some who cannot defend this activity and consistently claim they support women (actual women) now deflect the argument, asking why this is a priority or on anyone’s list of priorities, especially with all that’s going on today (Ukraine, Middle East, immigration, crime, etc). These same people said nothing when these ideas to be “inclusive” of men joining women’s sports. Back then they were ready to jump on the bandwagon (regardless of the other priorities that could have been focused on), for no better reason than the word “inclusive” sounds so good and so we must do it, regardless of who or what it affects.

Some will go on to say it doesn’t hurt many people other than a handful of hopeful women, trying to earn that top spot, sports scholarships, and some sort of sporting record.

As a father of two kids in high school allow me to educate those on why it matters. My daughter, a junior, earned her way into Varsity as a freshman. It’s not big school and when she joined the team she luckily could hold her own in order to not only be on Varsity, but as a starter. But what if there were men identifying as women coming into the mix? My daughter is not at the level of earning a basketball scholarship, nor will she likely play at the college level. Basketball and softball are meant to serve as checkmarks for getting into a good college and to give her opportunities for other types of scholarships for educational or leadership qualities. She currently holds school records and she is very likely going to be selected to be Captain of her basketball team. How would this change with boys claiming to be girls coming into the mix? The fact is, these “inclusive” decisions can and will hurt girls in the future and anyone who supports that does not support equal opportunities for women.

My son, a sophomore, is a decent XCountry runner who is also on the Varsity team, but he could easily say he identifies as a girl and outrun the entire girl’s XCountry team. He would also be very competitive statewide too. This could mean “earning” more check marks for college (including the status of being transgender). He wouldn’t do it of course because it didn’t take me or my wife to tell him it’s cheating. He figured that out, all by himself, simply because it is common sense.

This issue does matter, it should be prioritized, and we can walk and chew gum when it comes to legislation and policy.
