MY SAY: Even lawful combatant POWs may be held without charge or trail "until the end of hostilities," IAW the Geneva Conventions and Law of War. Unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us, held at Gitmo, are entitled to absolutely nothing, but for the benevolence of the USA.

And you have it right. But no one seems willing to say that. I would hold the unlawful ones until hell froze over. And given the state of things right now, the lawful ones would be close behind.

Indeed. "Until the end of hostilities" is pretty clear to me. Just under 800 ever held at Gitmo (out of tens of thousands captured), and 745+ RELEASED! Zero executions!
