My mom's brother, Pfc. Clifford Reed, was a 3-inch gunner captured there.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - You went and fought in an unp0pular war so that makes you a hero to me. We all could have run up to Canada but we chose to do the right thing. So don't tell me you're not a HERO.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. The men, military and civilian, on Wake Island were nothing but extraordinary! They fought against desperate odds. Did your Uncle survive his captivity?

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D.
He did. Stayed in after WWII but didn't go to Korea. Discharged as a gunny in '55 with severe PTSD. Died in Chicago in 2003.
