Just what is it about Fort Hood that make it such a dangerous place ? Seems well out of control.

SGT Mary G.
Gotta wonder. When I was there 85/86 there was a known problem with E-7s (according to the chaplain). One dimension was sexual harassment from married Platoon SFCs and their E-6 protégés in-training. I am grateful to have been warned about a problem by fellow SMs in the unit when I arrived by fellow SMs. Didn't take long to learn the truth of that warning. Of course not cooperating meant getting screwed in ways other than physical, and/or targeted by the E-6s in-training. The problem probably spread and escalated. Apparently the problem has escalated to murder . . .
Male troops have been targeted too, and have ended up dead, but the news doesn't ever add a sexual dimension to those reports. Perhaps it is open season on anyone these days after the don't ask don't tell policy is no longer in force - added to tran confusion (i.e. from folks who are not trans).
I suggest defensive solution would be for some amount of martial arts training to be mandatory - at least for female SMs.
When you know what to do that works and does not require excessive brawn, there is more chance of preventing a problem and/or of shining a needed light on it when a recipient of a no nonsense "no" needs treatment for some type of injury.

Obviously, the last cleanup hasn’t made a major difference. To stop sexual harassment and sexual assaults it starts at the top but the senior NCO’s needs to be on board and clamping down on this. They are the ones that should have a ear to what is going on. No one should have to endure this crap, period!
