Are the railroads out inspecting their rails?

1LT Vance Titus My son is a railroad nut and follows Norfolk Southern close. He says they use a private company to inspect the rails and Norfolk Southern had had major layoffs in maintenance in the past couple years to improve their bottom line. So the problem may very well be lack of maintenance. When the bottom line becomes more important than safety this is what happens.

Cpl Vic Burk 100% correct. Money above safety never ends well.

Lt Col Charlie Brown These railroad accidents seem to come in spurts. I hope the railroads of this country get it together and start doing better maintenance on their equipment.
