Scientists discover enzyme that can turn air into energy, unlocking potential new energy source

Scientists studying a cousin of the bacteria responsible for tuberculosis and leprosy have discovered an enzyme that converts hydrogen into electricity, and they think it could be used to create a new, clean source of energy literally from thin air.
The enzyme, which has been named Huc, is used by the bacterium Mycobacterium smegmatis to draw energy from atmospheric hydrogen, enabling it to survive in extreme, nutrient-poor environments.
Now, by extracting and studying the enzyme, the researchers say they have found a new energy source that could be used to power a range of small portable electrical devices. They published their findings March 8 in the journal Nature (https://www.nature.com/articles/s4 [login to see] 1-7)

An interesting concept at this point... Hydrogen is plentiful in different forms... This will be a great source of energy if it can be produced in large quantities... The future is here...

Nicolai Tesla had the diagrams and the designs of a machine that could use the free Energy around in the Air. That was over 100 years ago.
And as you know, when it comes to anything being free, either the Govt clamps down on it or the utilities want to charge you for it, And ask the gov't to regulate it.
We have been made lame in such areas as energy, advances and such because the Utilities and the Gov't doesn't like competition ... let alone anything Free given away without a way to profit/ tax it .
When Radio was the big thing, Manufacturers and broadcasters petitioned the Gov't so that the listeners/ Homes that had a radio , to be able to pay monthly bill for it. The Gov't actually turned them down. And that is how we got Commercials.
Owners of a Radio stations charged the programs to use the studios for their programs. And the Program people in turn charged companies air time for advertising there products .
Ever wonder where the term " Soap Opera " came from??
Most of those Drama programs were able to get Soap companies to buy advertising space within the program.
Most of their ads were from soap companies- so... the programs came to be known as Soap Operas.
