MY SAY: I am certain no one thinks about why Gitmo exists in the first place when they say things like this article says. 9/11/2001 fades with time apparently. Nearly 3,000 innocent people from 102 countries, women, children, pregnant women among the murdered. Who did that? Tens of thousands of unlawful combatant Islamists who want to kill us were captured on the battlefield after 9/11, but only just less than 800 ever made it to Gitmo. Over 740 have been RELEASED; NONE executed, beheaded, blown up, hacked to death, dragged naked and lifeless through the streets, drowned or burned alive. All things our enemies have done to US and/or our allies. There is no moral comparison between Gitmo and how our enemies treat their captives. Gitmo detainees are given FREE Qurans, prayer rugs/beads, directions to Mecca, religious services from US military Muslim chaplains, white robes, beards, halal and holy Muslim holiday meals, world class health, vision and dental care, recreation, correspondence, TV, DVDs, books, games, library services, sports and more. Gitmo is a small piece to the big puzzle of how we win the Global War on Terror, still raging across the world. Closing Gitmo would send the message that the US is finished fighting terrorism and would dishonor the fallen.
