This needs to be done carefully. Often times victims of violent crime do not want to testify out of fear. The criminal pleads down to a lesser crime. The ruling needs to be carefully crafted.

With due consideration, the laws are very clear that convicted felon's shouldn't be allowed to own firearms (or for that matter vote)? The law doesn't need to be carefully crafted if you don't weaken the law in the first place If the offender in question has been pardoned, then I am forced to assume that they have met the burden of proof for voting and gun ownership.
