ILLUSTRATIONS: (1) !st Lt. Alden Rigby and Lt. Col. J. C. Meyer dump drop tanks before attacking German fighters with their 352d FG P-51Ds in late 1944. (2) Rigby takes off during the raid on Y-29 airfield in Asche, Belgium, in his 487th FS, 352d FG P-51D, 1 Jan. 1945. (3) Rigby downs an Me-109G with his 487th FS, 352d FG P-51D near the Y-29 airfield at Asch, Belgium, on New Year's Day. (4) Rigby scores his 4th kill on 1 Jan. 1945 with his 487th FS, 352d FG P-51D "Eleen & Jerry."

Great share. Thankfully this happened late in the war. I wonder what the results would have been with experienced pilots on the German side?

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - I disagree, the Germans would have had fewer losses. They knew when to cut & run, the new kids didn't.
