If the event was an, "insurrection", then I have to say it was the worst organized insurrection in the history of insurrections.
Watching the video footage what I see is lots of people meandering about the building with no designed purpose. Taking selfies, sitting in the Speakers chair, etc... some pretty childish stuff, but an insurrection? hardly.
Participants should be held accountable for their actions. Was Fmr Pres. Trump responsible for setting this event in motion? maybe a little. Seems to me that it's more a case of, "Let's march on the Capitol!", "Holy crap we got in, now what do we do", "I know, let's take selfies and sit in the speakers chair."
Leaderless, directionless, just some really stupid crap that I'm sure many of them are now thinking, what the f*ck were we thinking.

There is to be demonstration in Washington D.C. Secretary of the Army asks SeDef, do we want the National Guard on standby? Sure, says SecDef, but let’s not look heavy handed. I’ll have my guys do up a memorandum.
I don’t think the fmr Pres. expected events to get so out of hand. Though once they did, more aggressive action should have been taken.
