APOD: 2022 December 9 - Mars Rises above the Lunar Limb

Good Red Friday morning, Rallypoint, and welcome to the December 9th edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Mars Rises above the Lunar Limb." When this image first popped onto my screen I thought it was taken from Orion on its way back to Earth (splashdown is this coming Sunday). If you thought that as well, you too would have been wrong...this image was captured in a back yard in San Diego, California. And if you check out the photographer's Flickr page (highly encouraged), he purports to be an amateur astronomer. I wish all professionals could take pictures like these.
