People should come up with a new line for leaving.
"Attributing the decision to wanting to spend more time with his family" - Has anyone who ever used that line been believed?
It's like believing a UFO report ... Sure, it's POSSIBLE it's true (after what Maj William W. 'Bill' Price keeps showing us, how can you not think it's possible), but even if there were a legitimate UFO out there, there are so many hoaxes how could a rational person believe it?

It's cute that he thinks stepping down will protect him. In a sane and just world stepping down would mean having to hire his own attorney to defend himself and be bankrupted like LTG Flynn was. But with the Republicans in charge are squishes and won't touch him now.
