I honestly don't believe that any statement from Biden reflects anything beyond his addled state of mind. As for his "promise" to defend Taiwan, I would remind you that his promises aren't worth anything

I firmly believe we won't do a thing if China invades Taiwan. Our president, whom I believe was bought and paid for through his son's 'business' dealings will try to show bravado and bluster his way to covering his ass.

With Trump tied to Musk and his business ties to China, he will do nothing to defend Taiwan. At the same time Trump has proven he will defend Putin.

SN Donald Hoffman I dunno. There's this:
The U.S. government has quietly unfrozen about $870 million in security assistance programs for Taiwan, according to two officials familiar with the matter, who were not authorized to speak publicly.

The U.S. resumes hundreds of millions in security aid to Taiwan, annoying China

Good article, SSG Carlos Madden. Thanks for posting.
This article speaks of G.H.W. Bush cultivating a more stable mutually respectable relationship between U.S.A. and China, much earlier, instead of the cut-throat competition it devolved into.

SFC Bernard Walko - Lol. No doubt your wife is right!
However at times long-winded is good<smile> . . . like your insightful comment.
Nothing to be sorry about.
I hadn't considered the generational difference - but have certainly noticed a difference between GHW and his kids. I think your observation is spot on - and says a lot about the difference between our WWII, many of their Boomer kids, and way too many of the Grandkids and Greatgrands.
Drawing the line really is about experience isn't it - knowing when a line needs be drawn, where to draw the line, and how so that it is not impossible to communicate civilly about differences.
