Clinicians at Department of Veterans Affairs facilities have not consistently asked patients who have acknowledged thoughts of suicide about their access to firearms or ways to better store the weapons safely despite department policy requiring those discussions, a VA watchdog found in a report released Thursday. As part of a broad review of whether the Veterans Health Administration is following policies covering firearm-related suicides, the VA's inspector general examined the health records of 65 patients who died by suicide involving firearms.

Ditto! They are lacking it this regard, based on my visits to the VA!

Reading the responses to this I am dismayed. People just don't kill themselves with firearms. Are they asking what meds you have at your disposal? Knives in the house? Rope? Live near a high point? Live near water? And to be honest, I hate the 'red flag' laws. I don't trust the government in any way, shape or form.
I say all this as a man, who at my lowest point, considered ending my life with a rifle.
