It's A whole lot different than what we learned in Nam. Draftees from small towns and large cities knew nothing of what was ahead of them. 8 weeks of basic and another 8 weeks of AIT didn't prepare an 18 year old kid of the year that was ahead of them. A lot of the young Lt.'s were no better. I'm glad that todays Army is getting better trained than we were. A lot of the guys who made it back are dealing with phyiscal and mental scars from war and many put it behind them, but it never really goes away. War sucks. God bless and protect all who served.

Having served at a Battle Lab and tested some of our technology at multiple CTC rotations, I can testify that several of these lessons learned are "enduring" issues. One good thing, even if it takes a while to get reacquainted, is getting back to full-blooded combined arms maneuver after so many years of counter-insurgency and "peace operations".
