Its shameful that it seems as standard practice veterans have to fight sometimes for years to get what they were entitled to in the first place for legitimate problems. Seems they always start with a small paltry amount and to get an adequate coverage have to fight the VA< the very agency that should be helping them. A friend of mine in served with in Vietnam that was getting a paltry amount and has major issues due to agent orange exposure. His Doctor supported Him and the damage to his health due to AO exposure. The VA questioned the exposure, I wrote a letter, His Doctor used it. I pointe out the place they questioned if they would have bothered checking the existing US Government records, 185 Million had ben spent as where He was stationed it was one of the worst AO contamination sites in all of Vietnam. We worked a bunker with 150 feet of of the storage are for thousand's of barrels of Agent Orange and to this day nothing will grow there. The 12 Special Operations Squadron, "Ranch Hands" that flew the C123 spray planes flew out of Da Nang where We were stationed, not only had We both also been around their aircraft but the spray was also used on our own base perimeter where We both worked. I also enclosed a photo of both of us together as shown in the photo here, Him Sgt. Frank Donahue on the right and Me on the left. I had signed the letter with My name, and SMSgt, USAF (Ret) Frank contacted and thanked Me, He got His 100% thanks He said to My letter and back pay to the date He first applied. His Doctor Who also supported Him used my letter to prove His point.

Not at all unusual. It took them six years to upgrade my PTSD rating from 10% to 50%.

I hope all goes well with this ruling. Too many times veterans have been hung out to dry.
