I have both and the .22 goes out for squirrels and the 17 for everything else. Great shooting gun...smooth and relatively quiet. We have deer depredation permits and we use the 17 for that and it works just fine.

I can understand that. The .17 has a habit of destroying tree rats.

I don't hunt and or fish. Some say that this good for their health because it allows them time to relax and collect their thoughts with like minded folks.

SFC David Reid, M.S, PHR, SHRM-CP, DTM Before I joined the Marines I hunted but it was to have food on the table, not for sport. Fishing was great also. It did relax me, got me out away from everything and gave me time to reflect and think.

I shoot both, frequently using a 22 high power rated suppressor. Sure, normal reduction on 22s. The 17 is a different story. Reduction yes, but it sounds like a bumble bee. It's more of a zing sound. I'm sure there are those who will do turkeys with a 17 because they don't like shot in their meat.
