There are several alternatives, there is one made from corn that is bio degradable but for some reason the world is slow to change.

I believe We have enough things made out of corn that isn't for human food. With all the hunger here in America and the World, we need more put aside for foodstuffs , not containers/ trays,...
Corn can be ground and made into tortillas, breads/ breadstuffs , and human food along those lines.
I know, it's just starches, but a full belly / fighting off hunger needs as much natural foods such as corn and Wheat, and such to curb hunger. Add other foods ike vegetables/ fruits/ and the occasional Beef/ Pork/ Chicken/ Fish, with the corn tortillas/ breads, and everybody from farmers/ growers/ meat and fisheries can profit as well as keep the whole of American families from health issues like malnutrition/ bone and muscle atrophy, their own bodies breaking down their own organs and systems to try to stay alive.
Worst case scenario, we have our bodies digest themselves to the point of weighing in at 60- 90 lbs bodyweight and our bodies can only handle simple starches and maybe coffees and Teas and water . Even then, starvation will make our bodies incapable of handling any form of any type foodstuffs.
We need food. Desperately as there are families in America suffering from malnutrition .
If corn grown for human consumption and not ethanol/ containers/ sitting in silo's was distributed Nation wide, in most forms it would help everyone in the country.
From farmer to Family.
I know, the government pays some farmers either not to produce or hold back on shipping a portion of their crop from market.. as well as most other farmers are doing across the types of crops , but let the government buy the corn and have factories render it into flours, corn on the cob, etc., and ship it to food banks / senior homes/ ... instead of sitting in silo's and rotting .
The government pays the farmers not to produce / ship a part of their crop. Why not have the government take it and benefit the hungry children/ orphanages/ retirement centers/ nursing homes/ food banks,
It's already paid for, it won't drop the price of the grain, everyone wins. And the government can get some good P R for once.

Used Diapers??? What a shitty idea!
Actually if they can convert all that to something that is stable and useable its a great idea.

Agreed. Especially as the landfills are full and it costs a fortune to find places to put it
