Fleet of hydrogen passenger trains begins service in Germany

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - I like this idea as long as the fuel cells are non-combustible in their static location with the Engine bay... The only residual is probably water and lord knows we need more fresh water... It will be interesting to see how this works out on the Pilot program... I know that there is a chemical process in producing the Hydrogen, so as long as it is a safe and manageable process, I am all for it...

Great application for wind turbines and one solution to energy storage. Wonder how Germany intends to produce their hydrogen?

"Hydrogen fuel can be produced from methane or by electrolysis of water. As of 2020, the majority of hydrogen (∼95%) is produced from fossil fuels by steam reforming or partial oxidation of methane and coal gasification with only a small quantity by other routes such as biomass gasification or electrolysis of water."

Many Germans travel by train. We did as well but Germany is tiny compared to the USA
