Good evening, Rallypoint, and welcome to a two-fer edition of Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD). We begin with this animation from August 22nd: "Earth's Recent Climate Spiral." Using data beginning in 1880, this 1:10 video clip demonstrates the overall temperature change of the Earth. Interestingly, the same materials used to create this animation also includes the following statement: "Compared to most of Earth’s history, today is unusually cold; we now live in what geologists call an interglacial—a period between glaciations of an ice age." Does that mean there are certain "scientific" phenomena based more on personal opinion versus facts? Could be.
