The pledge of allegiance was definitely respected in the Catholic Schools I attended. It was also the start of the day in public schools here in NC. It was definitely an integral part of the start of the day in the early 2000’s when I was a substitute teacher at Camp LeJeune.
Here in Pinehurst, the local FM station has a student read the pledge every morning at 0700
