A U.S. Navy destroyer that engaged a superior Japanese fleet in the largest sea battle of World War II in the Philippines has become the deepest wreck to be discovered, according to explorers.
The USS Samuel B. Roberts, popularly known as the “Sammy B," was identified on Wednesday broken into two pieces on a slope at a depth of 22,916 feet.

Fascinating, at that depth there isn't much that would effect the wreckage so should be in relatively goid shape as far as wrecks are concerned, but that also makes it much more difficult to map or explore.

The Samuel B Roberts and a couple other destroyers charge the battleships and heavy Cruisers. Luckily, the Cruisers couldn't aim their weapons blowing up when they got close.
I have this Enterprise 360 DVD set but it's good to know it's available online for viewing.

Correction, they couldn't aim low enough to shoot at the Destroyers when they got to close. Their guns could aim up but they couldn't depress below a certain degree down.
