I was there in May 2020 in the midst of COVID. I was staying at MCAS Beaufort and went to PI to the commissary and the exchange. I saw a few trainees ‘being smoked’. The DI’s I spoke with were great guys! There were COVID issues with many of the classes and some were quarantined to tents.
I could ‘feel’ the tradition when I came through the front gate.

SPC Nancy Greene The Tradition Will Live On in Every Marine Who Left There Wearing the Eagle, Globe and Anchor, Every-time A Current Or Former Marine Steps on That Ground They Stand a Little Straighter and Hold Their Head a Little Higher, They Can Close The Base But They Can Not Remove the Blood and Tears From The Ground , They Should Put A Memorial There If They Do Close It

I would be interested to see the tidal data. MCRD San Diego sits at about the same elevation. Why no talk about leaving there too?
