There were several FAE's (Fuel Air Explosive thermobaric weapon) used on the caves

Not a "new" weapon. We called in a few FAE strikes in Viet Nam. Unlike napalm which could be used in danger close situations, the FAE at least in Viet Nam, was too unpredictable. Scariest damned thing I ever saw, it literally took your breath away.
