Not perfect, fits and starts.
But striving to do better.
Lately there is a strong movement to about face.

Attending grade school in Texas and Louisiana during the 50s we were encouraged to read and discuss uplifting biographies like this on Jesse, "Satchel" Page, Booker T., G.W. Carver and others. Acknowledging the wrongs, celebrating the rights, appreciating the struggle to move toward the promises of the Founding Documents. Not perfect, fits and starts. Striving to do better. Too bad today's kids are too often being taught a return to hate and distrust.

Jessie Owens was spot-on. Hopefully we have mentors that bring us to the realization of those struggles - the struggles that others can not, or will not fight for us - the struggles we alone must concur.
