Not with politicians making the decisions and the CIA helping the cartels. It would just be another Afghanistan debacle

I repeatedly say, nature abhors a vacuum. If the US doesn’t control our southern border someone will. We are giving control of our southern border over to the cartels. Every illegal immigrant that enters our country though Mexico has paid the cartels. Young women are raped, some tortured and killed in the most brutal of fashion. Old men that can’t keep up are left to die as are very young children. We now have more fentanyl deaths from over doses as drugs flood our country through our porous border. Of course we can’t put up a barrier, an integrated road system and modern detection system along the border, some how in liberals minds this is cruel. Funny the person in charge of our border has visited it exactly once. Harris famously said prior to visiting the border once, “ I have never visited Europe either”. To win in any contest you need to have a will to at least compete. Biden has stacked arms and is sitting on his demented rear end. Right now I am reading a book called “ Devils Highway “. It pretty well documents the horrors occurring along the border. The book is about an incident 20 years ago in which 14 illegal aliens died in a desert between Mexico and the US. It is now much worse. We have cartel members whose initiation into the cartel requires them to butcher a person alive and eat a part of the warm beating heart. We don’t have the will to build a fence and a road system. If we were serious and had a will we could destroy the cartels, but our political class won’t.

As recently as 2005 we were comfortable crossing our car at Nogales and traveling the 15 through Hermosillo (family), Guaymas, Ciudad Obregon, Los Mochis(family), Matzatlan (fun), Guadalajara (family). We fished/camped in Puerto Penasco and Bahia Conception.

Now, camping within 15 miles of the border (American side) is out of the question.

CWO4 Terrence Clark - I can’t remember which one , but about10 years ago one of our national parks along our southern border was closed due to drug smuggling and illegal alien crossing.

Probably not. It is as much a supply and demand issue as anything. As long as the demand in the US is as high as it is someone, if not the Mexican cartels, will find way to supply the drugs. Would not be at all surprised to find that the Chinese play, or will play, a role in this to further destabilize the US.

There are Chinese laundering money for the cartels. Chinese are providing advisors to the Cartels. I think the Chinese are trying to set up opium wars type situation with the USA, like theBritish did with China.
