Why renewables can’t save the planet | Michael Shellenberger | TEDxDanubia
Environmentalists have long promoted renewable energy sources like solar panels and wind farms to save the climate. But what about when those technologies de...

Is green energy, particularly wind and solar energy, the solution to our climate and energy problems? Or should we be relying on things like natural gas, nuclear energy, and even coal for our energy needs and environmental obligations? Alex Epstein of the Center for Industrial Progress explains.

My father was an engineer and I valued his opinions very much. he told me back in my youth (the 60s) That nuclear energy was the future. He pointed out that the sun was a nuclear furnace and if that was giving our Earth life why not use it. God he said was showing us the way.

I don't know about being useless, their production does go down during the winter months, and rises during the Summer months, the difference is the amount of sunlight between the two seasons, and the cold tends to degrade the panels production.

Let's take a notoriously snowy state and use it to generalize about solar everywhere.
Arizona does GREAT with solar.
Solar is a better idea in some places than others. And even in the places where it does poorly, like Minnesota, what it CAN produce, especially in summer, reduces fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas production.
This is a case of "every little bit helps."
Now, the cost efficiency is a SEPARATE issue, and definitely needs to be addressed.

I don't understand what's wrong with fossil fuel consumption. and I believe greenhouse gas production is hokey.
