The far-right is a blight for this country that I fear is only growing.

PO1 Kevin Dougherty - The far left vandalizes and loots while the far right has a hefty body count. They both suck, but it's clear to me that one is worse than the other.

Vandalizes and loots? By my count 1005 LEOs were injured, and at least 17 killed May through July. There was also somewhere around $2B in damages. I would say that's pretty significant.

CSIS admits in that study that "We coded threats of violence as attacks rather than plots, even if the threat turned out to be a hoax." They also included, "misogyny," and "hatred based on sexuality or gender identity; and/or opposition to certain policies such as abortion." So basically anyone who disagreed with government policies was labeled a right wing terrorist. If grandma Jones was on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood passing out cookies and praying for women going in, and they called the police on her, they counted her as a terrorist. To make it worse, they relied heavily on numbers from the discredited Southern Poverty Law Center. They also included acts that were clearly NOT ideologically related, for instance a wife killing her husband, or a man killing his ex's now boyfriend as acts of terror. Oh and the guy who killed five officers in Dallas at a BLM rally? He was counted as a right wing nutcase, along with the guy who shot three cops in Baton Rouge, despite the fact that one was a member of the NBPP, and the other a Black separatist with possible ties to the Black Panthers. Yet their acts were counted as right wing attacks.

Meanwhile, when it came to Islamic terrorism, they only counted attacks tied to know terror groups. So lone wolf attacks, even if they stated they acted on behalf of an Islamic group or shouted "Allahu akbar" while gunning people down, was not counted. By the way, they left out the 1993 WTC bombing and the 9/11 attacks, but DID count the 1995 bombing of the federal building in OKC.

To put it succinctly, the study is garbage, they adjusted criteria to obtain the results they wanted, then tried to hid in in a lot of fancy words. It's also worth noting that Muslims only make up 1% of the population. So any sort of comparison is somewhat meaningless.

As reprehensible as these attacks were, how many of the perpetrators were far left people committing politically driven attacks? Could they have been opportunistic common criminals who took advantage of the heated protests to commit crime? I don't doubt that there were some leftist kooks who've actually harmed people, but for all I know, until I see a detailed description of the perps, they were just ordinary thugs with no political motive. Otoh, as the other link I've provided explains, our Intel agencies and LE organizations are grappling with concerning far-right activity.

Anthony Logan - About as many as there were politically motivated people on the far right January 6th. As I already said, the link you provided is based on a seriously flawed study. You can not do a valid comparison if you don't use the same metrics for the various groups. Nor does it matter how many times the talking heads may quote it, or repeat their talking points.

"...but for all I know, until I see a detailed description of the perps, they were just ordinary thugs with no political motive." Yet, you blindly accept that anyone who opposes the far left narrative is a politically motivated far right wingnut. After all that is what the echo chamber keeps saying. They still say that Officer Brian Sicknick was attacked and killed by rioters with a fire extinguisher, even though the Coroners Office has flatly stated that he died of natural causes unrelated to January 6th. They continue to use the term insurrection, despite the fact that after arresting and interrogating over 600 people they found almost no evidence of a conspiracy, and have only charged a handful with more that criminal trespass on Federal Property and/or interfering with the function of Congress. Not one has been charged with anything more than conspiracy, though insurrection was certainly an option. They still insist that Trump masterminded it, yet, the FBI reported there was no connection with him or any of his advisors or staff.

I freely admit that I have a conservative bent, mixed with a large dose of libertarian. But what I look for most of all is truth. I spend most evenings searching out and fact checking what I read or saw on the news, and purposely seek out a multiplicity of sources, left middle and right. For example did you know that the leader of the Proud Boys mentioned above is a Black Cuban American? I didn't, till I did a little research. Odd, the press portrays them as a White Supremacist group. With a person of color at their head. Seem a little odd to you?

At this point - just wall off Portland and let them kill each other - nothing of any value would be lost - the trailblazers suck.

Ditto on the Trail Bloozers ("Bloozers" - combination of the critical words Blazers and Losers)!
