Actually, there is a lot to be said for this, it takes the pimp out of the equation. Women of the town need a pimp to defend them and their turf because they cannot go to the police. If their activities are legal, they can call the cops like anyone else if and when trouble arises.
I have to ask myself- who am I to tell a woman she may not trade sex for money when that has been a HUGE part of considerations for marriage since time immemorial? Would ugly rockstars and megawealthy tech nerds have trophy wives if money was not part of the equation? Sex for money is a part of the warp and woof of our culture, whether we like it or admit it or not. If a woman wants to do it, trade sex for money, she should have the right. And she should have legal protection like everyone else, which this measure would provide.
I must disagree with you on this one, Charlie.

I get it however, I know that even with legal protections, women are not safe. Underage girls get trafficked; husbands or partners abuse them (and occasionally the other way as well).

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Legalization brings the whole thing out of the shadows. The women are no longer afraid to rat out their abusers. That's my point. The rats thrive in the shadows, legalization removes the shadows. The whole thing seems to work well in Germany, Denmark, and Holland.

Yes! Because nothing says 'empowerment' like prostituting one's self.
Oregon democrats have gone past going off the deep end, they are Marianna trenching it.

If a person has limited assets, why should they be denied the opportunity to capitalize on one of them?
Why should it be illegal to sell somwthing that it is perfectly legal to give away?
And besides, people "prostitute themselves" all the time. Ass-kissing to get ahead (or just to get along) at work. Being friendly with the rich grandma that you don't really like so that you don't get cut out of the will. Volunteering to round out a resume or college application....
Plus. Some people actually LIKE sex. One of the most common life happiness mantras is to find a job getting paid to do something you love.
