Thank you my friend SGT (Join to see) for posting the music video of the Doors performing Light My Fire on the Ed Sullivan Show on September 17, 1967. The Doors defied Ed Sullivan and the CBS censors by refusing to change the word “higher” while performing their #1 hit, “Light My Fire,” on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Song background "This song began with a conversation between Robby Krieger and Jim Morrison when Krieger asked Morrison, what he should write about. Jim answered, "Something universal, which won't disappear two years from now." Krieger decided to write about one of the elements among air, earth, fire, water. He chose fire because he liked the song "Play With Fire" by The Rolling Stones.
This song helped the band become very popular, because before they had been known only as an underground band from Los Angeles.

"Light My Fire" written by Robby Krieger with Jim Morrison
Lyrics
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire, yeah

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire'

One classic Doors song certainly deserves at least a couple more
