There is absolutely no need to grant China a patent waver for the vaccines. First they have, (or at least claim to have,) an effective vaccine of their own, let them produce that. Second, there are other countries, such as Canada, India, Ireland and maybe a dozen other countries who do not make copyright infringement and intellectual theft a national industry. For the record, I have no problem with providing targeted wavers to reputable companies in countries that respect international law and are not our adversaries if our domestic industry can not meet production demands. A blanket waver however is something entirely different. Especially when it's mRNA based and the country in question is known to have engaged in genetic research and testing that is considered unethical.

Well, seeing as we're responsible for the development of COVID, it stands to reason we should be responsible for putting an end to it. Those responsible (like Dr. Fauci) should be held accountable. Am curious who knew what and when... because when Trump was trying to proactively close ports of entry to travelers from hotspot countries, Nancy Pelosi blocked it and encouraged people to celebrate Chinese New Year in Chinatown. Then when COVID began spreading they blamed Trump for not doing enough. And in New York, Gov Cuomo and Mayor DeBlasio put COVID infected patients in nursing homes despite having been supplied MASH tents and the USS Comfort which largely went underutilized. The death count spiked, which bolstered their political narrative about how deadly COVID was, which emphasized the need for the public to get vaccinated. Go figure!
