Interesting read. My son in law works construction and was one of the lucky ones to keep working throughout the pandemic. His company downsized and has plenty of openings but won't hire because of supply issues so he gets plenty of overtime.

We used to have new homes going up around here, and work would start at 0800 and end at 2000. Now, they start at 0800 and end at 1500. There used to be piles of lumber laid out at job sites, but not now. When they do deliver lumber, it is smaller loads, and they have people stay on site around the clock to guard it.

The banks have stopped offering mortages in some places...too many customers.

Down here people trying to finance are getting out bid by those paying cash.

With the price of lumber it is amazing that ANY new homes are going up.

Well the prices of them are going up as well. Lots of development around me and models are selling for about $20k more today than they were a year ago.
