Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse. I am working some interesting projects for Red Cross resiliency that are a bit different than my usual. I've done two interviews so far and it looks like I will have another one next week. Now we also have a request to do a special resiliency app... we are hoping to help by planning to do some amazing (great things) on behalf of our service members, veterans and their families.
To do great things you have to be willing to put yourself out there, step outside your comfort zone and keep at it. Every effort you make is worthwhile and helpful and none is wasted. We can build on what we accomplish to do even bigger and better things.

Lt Col Charlie Brown - Thanks for sharing your great work with the American Red Cross Charlie. Always doing great things and its appreciated...

“There is nothing wrong with setting the bar high and expecting greats things out of yourself. Why not? Sometimes you have to go out find those things or create them, you can’t expect them just to show up all the time. That leads to me a great quote by a great basketball player that pushed himself every day on the court…

‘You must expect great things of yourself before you can do them.’ — Michael Jordan

May you always have the right positive attitude to go out do great things for yourself and others; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. It’s never too late to expect and do great things.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good “Wednesday & Hump Day!” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader from the slightly warmer skies of SW FLorida... Today is my wife's Birthday, so it is her day and I will be out and about with her today and tonight, so won't be on RP very much today... Wishing my friends on RP a great day!!!

It is: “Expect Great Things Day!” I bet if you look around, you will find great things happening today...

My Personal Quote:
"In order to do great things, you must do all of the small things first." Kerry F. Harkins, April 7, 2021

"To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and not quite enough time." - Leonard Bernstein

"I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot; together we can do great things." - Mother Teresa

"Don't be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can't cross a chasm in two small jumps." -David Lloyd George

"Great things in business are never done by one person, they're done by a team of people." - Steve Jobs

"Great things are achieved by talented people who are absolutely convinced that they not only can but will achieve them." - Warren G. Bennis

In summary...

“What great things do you expect from Leaders? Someone you can count on, a sense of urgency, collaborative, thoughtful leadership, passionate about new possibilities, and an executive/commanding stature.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Your quote is spot on! Got to take care of the minutiae if you're ever going to become great.

Sgt (Join to see) - You're absolutely right - you must knock out all the small things first brother. Great personal quotes and thanks for the additional shares today Kerry...

I expect to be used but not wasted. I expect leaders to be willing to make hard decisions and live by the same morals and standards as is expected from their people. I expect my leaders to have a conscience, a spine, and a willingness to sacrifice.

Those all are great and doable expectations for great things to come out of leaders SFC Melvin Brandenburg - let's go find out where they're hiding Melvin...

COL Mikel J. Burroughs - I appreciate what you have to say about these qualities don't always show up. Most of the time people are lacking, because leaders are people, and people are often lacking, leaders are often lacking. That part isn't within my control. But, if I show up with these things, and I exemplify these things, usually one of two things happen, either the leader grows or I end up replacing them because I have grown. It isn't about ambition, but more to the idea of resiliency. When I think of authority, I think of positional, transactional, transitional, and transformational. Each have their place, but our leaders need to operate beyond the positional. All I have is influence and example. But examples do influence, and if my example is that of the change I wish to see, often my influence is transformational in and of itself. This is why leadership isn't based on position, but influence. The great thing is, leadership can flow upstream as well as downstream.
