China and Russia are laughing their asses off at us. I honestly can't say I blame them.

LCpl Leo Morrissey He cannot and will not handle the truth. During DADA no one i served with gave a fudge if you liked taking it up the poop chute as long as you did your job and could reliably carry someone out if they got hit. Carryin 285 pounds of muscly ass and body armor sucks. Dunno if a feHemale could do the same just due to muscular and skeletal structure. Its just like people pointing to the female grads of ranger school who spent a year or so trying to complete it. Dudes get 1 shot and if you miss the mark, you are out. Sexism much?

1SG (Join to see) - Pretty sad when the junior troops have more clue than their leaders... Yeah, I get it we're all veterans/retired and rank is meaningless so I'm just going to say it: 1SG (Join to see), you're CLUELESS!

In my view, this is only going to cause serious issues for the military in all branches!

That was said when Truman integrated the troops, when women were allowed to be pilots and into Combat Arms, when gays were permitted to serve, etc.
Our military will adapt and continue to be the best in the world.

MSG Stan Hutchison yeah sorry to break it to you but we definitely aren't the best anymore. Not with all this forced diversity crap where standards are lowered and less qualified people get the job.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Apples and Oranges. Trumans integration and the other past integrations you mentioned were far more broad in comparison. This is so narrowly defined so as to be in effect a restriction or ALMOST BAN.

Thank you my friend SSG(P) (Join to see) for posting the rather unsurprising news that yet another executive order is being exercised in DoD.
1. As in most top-down decisions the top declares success while the details will need to be worked through.
2. In the short term this will make little difference since 18 months must pass between gender reassignment surgery and no complications are criteria for enlistment, appointment, etc.
3. The required hormone treatments may impact deployability is the area, time frame and resources don't support medical treatment beyond life saving, etc.
As in most things the devil is in the details - hopefully the medical guidance will be fully followed
"The DoD also updated its Medical Standards for Appointment, Enlistment, or Induction into the Military Services. Among the changes, the guidance now states “A history of sex reassignment or genital reconstruction surgery is disqualifying unless all of the following conditions are met, as certified by a licensed medical provider: a) A period of 18 months has elapsed since the date of the most recent of any such surgery. b) No functional limitations or complications persist, and no additional surgery is required.”
The DoD further updated its instructions for gender transitions for troops already in the service, stating the military may provide cross-sex hormone therapy if they deem it medically necessary for a service member."
