Good morning Col Burroughs and Posse.
Expression. We communicate so much just through our facial expressions. Not just the big emotions but the small ones as well. Over 75% of our communication is via non verbal communication and partly why so much is misunderstood. Some expressions seem to be universal across cultures but many are not and that also leads to misunderstandings. If you are in a leadership or you are a parent raising children it is particularly important that you pay attention to both your expressions and that of your team or your children. This is one of the reasons that we are having so much difficulty with masking; it hides so much of one's face that it is even easier to misinterpret what you are seeing.

I hope that you communicate effectively with respect and compassion for those who rely on you for leadership especially your family members, friends and others who place their trust in you. I expect that the people who respect you enjoy listening to your expressed viewpoints. No doubt you have learned when to listen and when to speak. 'Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. [‘Proverbs 17:27] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown.

I lift parents, grandparents, neighborhood groups, medical ward volunteers, and small business leaders to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless each with a large measure of endurance, grace, knowledge, as they work together for the good of those they care for and support. LORD I thank YOU for meeting the needs of each of us in your perfect timing. ‘I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.’ … ‘And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus’ Philippians 4:12b-13, 19 ESV]
I pray that YOU bless each parent, grandparent and close friend who is earnestly praying for salvation of loves ones, healing for the sick and solutions to crises they are facing. LORD we know that YOU are all powerful and YOU designed each of us to heal from most illnesses and injuries. I pray that YOU guide the mind and hands of each medical professional working to trat and care for the injured and ill. I pray that YOU sovereignly heal many this evening dear LORD. ‘And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. [James 5:16-17 ESV]
LORD YOU know how much each individual can bear. YOU build character in each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters through challenges, trials and periods of suffering. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.' [Romans 5:3-5 ESV]
LORD I pray that YOU bless the honest and trustworthy leaders, legislators, judges, and their staff members with an increase of wisdom, goodness and kindness as they work to solve complex problems and decide difficult judicial cases. I pray that YOU enable them to effectively communicate across the aisles and to their constituents throughout the USA states, Canada, UK, Poland, France, India, Japan, Philippines, and Australia. ‘Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”. [Hebrews 13:5-6 ESV]
As far as self-righteous elected officials and judges who believe they are wiser than those they represent and hold their constituents with contempt, YOU give each one chances to repent and YOU know who will and who will LORD it over the weakest. ‘He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: …The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 18:9,1114 ESV
I pray that you and your family members slept well Thursday night and awoke refreshed and healthy on Friday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Expression Day -
1. Yes communicating effectively is incredibly important for leaders great and small
2. Trust is built up by communicating truthfully and living an honorable life
3. Faithful assurance is important
4. Moral courage is in standing up for others even while we communicate on their behalf.

Good Thursday, March 4, 2021 morning my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs

Quotes:
1. Kate Adie 'I keep telling myself to calm down, to take less of an interest in things and not to get so excited, but I still care a lot about liberty, freedom of speech and expression, and fairness'
2. Booker T. Washington 'Few things can help an individual more than to place responsibility on him, and to let him know that you trust him.'
3. Corrie ten Boom 'Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.'

Scriptures
a. Hebrews 10:19-22 ‘Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.’

b. Proverbs 13:16 Every prudent man acts with knowledge, but a fool flaunts his folly.

c. Proverbs 17_27-28 'Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding. Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.
d. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 ESV ‘They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.’
e. Hebrews 13:5-6 ESV ‘Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?”.
f. Matthew 5:33-37 ESV ‘Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’ But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.’
g. James 1:16 ESV Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
h. Luke 18:9-14 ESV ‘He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10“Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ 13But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. LTC Stephen F. - Great quotes today brother - thanks and enjoy your evening...

“You can see and tell a lot from a person’s expression. Whether they’re happy, sad, angry, concerned, positive or negative. ‘The face is a picture of the mind with the eyes as its interpreter.’ — Marcus Cicero. Expression can also come through your hobbies like dance, art, and your written communications. However, you express yourself try being positive when you do it. Leaders can set the tone for those who follow by their expression of confidence or they can affect the attitude of the Team in a negative way. May you always express yourself with from a positive perspective; may your mind, body, and soul be opened to grace, goodness, peace, forgiveness, and a continued bountiful life of purpose; and keep your family safe, secure, happy, and healthy. Get that happy face on today before you go out into the world — it can make a big difference for you and everyone you come in contact with.” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good “Thursday” Morning “Burroughs’ Posse Leader from a very cool and windy day in SW Florida... I've been working my IT shift today and my wife and I had to participate in an important Condo Zoom meeting at our FL residence..., so I am later than usual today with my response..., but that's life! LOL!

It is “Expression Day!” ...and having expressed myself once (above) I will continue on! LOL!

(I chose this 1st quote because of who it is written by... Can you guess why?)

"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind. Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." - Dr. Seuss -

"To write well, express yourself like the common people, but think like a wise man." - Aristotle

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do." - Leonardo da Vinci

"Do more than belong: participate. Do more than care: help. Do more than believe: practice. Do more than be fair: be kind. Do more than forgive: forget. Do more than dream: work." - William Arthur Ward

Expressing oneself is as important as one's life and here is why...

“It is very important to set the tone of your leadership by effectively communicating and by your facial expressions. They can set a positive sense of trust or erode that trust with negative expressions!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs
