Have you heard of a TENS Unit? My wife was diagnosed with a degenerative bone disease and LtCol Charlie Brown posted an article about the VA developing a Smart Bandage. I checked it out and found it still needs some work even though something like it is available on the civilian market since I first saw the article. Anyway, during my research, I came across this TENS thing and she agreed to give it a try. Her condition will never improve, but it does give enough temporary relief from pain without drugs to make it worthwhile. Treatment for her has cost me thousands every year and the TENS device achieves the same result for $40. Of course a cure would be preferable, but if you have chronic pain this might just be the answer.

CPL Douglas Chrysler - thank you Doug. I have done the TENS unit thing for a number of years with no real benefit to me. I also have a spinal insert that is a step up from the TENS unit. I have had that for approx 4 years now and maxed it out, with no significant help. I turned of the control yesterday and have had no effect, bad or good. I am contacting the manufacturer and doctor to consider the removal of the insert. It takes surgery to remove the unit from my spine and removal of the wires and battery under my skin. The battery is located in my left rear cheek. Since I have lost a ton of weight, the battery protrudes the out the area on which I sit. The has cause a few problems alone.
Blessings.
Blessings.

PO1 H Gene Lawrence The good news is the manufacturers are always looking for ways to make improvements. And, I don't know if many people know just how diligent the army and VA doctors work at doing everything they can think of to succeed in helping their patients.
