Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "The Helix Nebula from CFHT." The CFHT is the Canada-France-Hawai'i Telescope, and it is located on the summit of Mauna Kéa on the island of Hawai'i (along with eleven other observatories!). The Helix Nebula, aka NGC 7293, lies a mere 700 light years away in the constellation Aquarius (between Pisces and Capricorn). The Helix Nebula is one of brightest and closest examples of a planetary nebula, formed by gases cast off by a Sun-like star at the end of its life. The star itself glows in light so energetic it causes the previously expelled gas to fluoresce.
