Fort Hood commander loses post after incidents at Army base

You have expressed an appropriate attitude for even a junior NCO. You take care of your people just as you said. You look out for them. They are yours. Male or female, if they've been assaulted or harassed you help them deal with it. But remember that by Army regulation all claims of sexual harassment or sexual assault MUST be reported to the MCIO - CID. It may be reported anonymously, restricted access, or unrestricted meaning public knowledge. Do you are not failing your soldier by following the regulations. It's when those above you in the CoC don't want to look bad and don't follow the regulations.

SSG Robert Ricci - lol hence why I retired as a SGT. Those people didn’t like me telling them things like we can not enforce that because it’s not in the regulations. Now on this I most likely would have driven her to the MP station if I had witnessed anything and escorted her in so they could take both our statements. I would have informed my soldier of this. This would give her the chance to set the person up to be witnessed. Also I would have made her set up 911 as a speed dial or a voice command on her phone so she could quickly call them if needed. I spent the last three years dealing with chapters. One of those was a rape. When I got the story out of him, I advised him to take the plea deal he had very simply put performed the offense. While I was stationed at Fort Hood a soldier had committed a felony with a firearm. He was on leave before he reported to Korea. My CSM said we were going to bring him back and chapter him, because he didn’t want to pass his dirty laundry on to someone else.

An NCO takes care of thier soldiers before themselves... That was no where near my experience at fort hood. Its still argued that never leaving a man behind in a combat zone is " not policy" but rather just an idea. So after deploying out of fort hood, who lost the most soldier during oif when i was in... I was glad to get out. More than half my battalion ets 'd and that was 15 years ago

CPL Sarah Stilwell When I was at Fort Hood, we had a saying “ there are E5s and then there are Sergeants. Which one are you?” That said when we stopped using soldier’s performance to evaluate leadership, we essentially allowed the Sergeant to stop caring about his soldiers. As far as not leaving a man behind. Every soldier has to believe this. When the boots hits the ground, every soldier must believe his brothers will bring him home one way or another. This is the reason I laugh at Stormtroopers. No army could function like that.
