Not only would I not recommend my children follow me into the profession, (which neither are interested or suited for it) I would highly discourage them from it.

Since very often children follow their parents into a profession, this is really concerning but not unexpected. We've been through the same thing in the military. I hope things change.

I would support my Sons but I would not recommend that they follow me into LE. I have all those concerns and more. What is going to happen is Departments are going to get recruits just like we saw in the "Chaz" and from that we will get Police Departments that will be willing try to go Door-to-Door and confiscate peoples weapons. (The Obama Administration forced departments to take unqualified persons in some cases even pushing to have none-US Citizens be hired as local police officers overlooking the fact you have to be a US Citizen to be a Federal Officer.) Which will then lower the standards even more standards because People will fight back and Thug officers will die so they will hire more tugs.

Far too many are handed a badge with little or no training. More are hired without proper psychological evaluation and social history background check. We don't know if the applicant is equipped mentally to handle the constellation of situations they may encounter. When a cop stands around doing nothing while the partner(s) beat the crap out of an individual, even worse when that person is in restraints, at the very least that cop is guilty of conduct unbecoming and dereliction of duty.
Law enforcement - from the cadet in training all the way to the Attorney General - should have the following beat into their heads from day one: "A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do." If it's good enough for West Point cadets, it's the very least we can expect from those expected to "protect and serve".

I guess you've not been in the South lately. Small town cops are frequently hired without much in the way of training. They get in trouble, resign and pop up in a town 20 miles away. It's not just here in Mississippi - where I have seen it happen - but in small towns nationwide.
Morality? I view it more as a basic requirement.

An Attorney General is not a Cop, they are a Lawyer and in most cases have no Idea what its like to be a cop. Bill Clinton was an AG and we now how corrupt he is. We all saw how "Fast and Furious" Holder and Deal Making Rice worked out. They are "Considered" a top Cop but are never given a psychological evaluation. If they had been Clinton Would have been in Jail and we never would have had to endure Hillary.
Police Officers are given psychological evaluation. You can not conflate one incident to a whole profession. Also studies have shown that in the Majority of cases Where Suspects die Police were called because something was going on, they were not just walking up to it.
1) Officers were called to a home where a Suspect threatened the owner with a knife. When Officers approached the car the suspect was in he rolled down the window and pointed a gun. Officers shot him. He died at Hospital.
2) Multiple officer were killed (2 Federal and one Sheriff deputy) and injured when a US Air Force Sergeant conducted ambush style raids on officers
3) The Wendy's called Police because a Drunk was passed out in his car, behind the wheel, in their drive thru. The Brooks committed 10 Felonies during the incident up to and including Pointing a Stolen Weapon at the Officers. Officers Shot him.
4) Officers were called to a Business where a Suspect was trying to pass a Counterfeit $20 bill. During the arrest they officers improperly improperly conducted Arrest Procedures and the Suspect Died. The Arresting Officer Should be Fired and possible charged. The others should be investigated then disciplined by department.
The real problem is that people who can not handle conflict call Police to Referee for them. "Woman call police on girl selling Water" Woman calls police on black man because he asks her to put Dog on Leash as law requires. " "Woman call police an 9yr old saying he grouped here, video shows his back pack bumped her." What Society has lost is the Civil in Civilization. I'm glad to see that Cities are now going to send unarmed Social Workers and Behavior Health Workers out to calls now. I wish them luck. They will need it.

MSgt Robert "Rock" Aldi - The problem is they all think criminals are moral. Criminals are Heroes who deserve big funerals and speeches. When did a Solder coming pack from Iraq or Afghanistan, in a flag draped casket, get what these criminals are getting?
