This article, being very informative brings up a very troubling aspect that Gen. Mattis did not address, and that this President has been attacked since he was elected by the other party every day, every single day and still has to defend his agenda and cabinet. How does that make him polarizing, by having to defend himself and his team daily/hourly? Is it not the other way around? There is no set rule for being an elected official and President Trump has definitely shown that, and that seems to be the bigger issue with a lot of people. As for the generals, I served long enough to see some of the most liberal thinking officers get appointed into the flag ranks that turned out to be just yes men rather than true outstanding leaders and I saw the truly patriotic leaders pushed out the door way too early. I don't pretend to know why Gen. Mattis and President Trump fell out of favor with one another, but, I am disappointed at how the general is now himself on a divisive smear campaign. As far as James Clapper, I would tell him to his face to shut the hell up! For any of them to suggest that our President is not for America, not for the military, not for the best interest of the American people first is ludicrous! Either they have blinders on or they themselves have been involved in Washington DC politics for too long. America first should be the goal of all presidents, not a one world order, that just makes us pawns in someone else's game of thrones which is how it has felt for far too many years now.

SPC Kevin Ford - The Muller report, a sham and waste of tax payer monies. The House impeachment hearing was a long drawn out nothing. The economy was doing great, even with all this BS, now with a virus, the enemy has what they hoped for. What's next? Organized looting and buring across America?

MSgt Robert "Rock" Aldi - I agree who he isn't shouldn't shock anyone. What is shocking is who he is and layer the office of president on top of that. The term unfit for office comes to mind.

Cpl Mark A. Morris - To be clear the Muller report wasn't a sham or waste of taxpayer money. The actions of the Russians happened. Just because the only part you cared about is how it reflected on Trump doesn't change the very real basis for the investigation.

Impeachment is a political process. The outcome isn't surprising but that doesn't mean it was a "nothing."

Are you trying to claim the virus was some sort of sham? That the George Floyd death was what? Some type of political plot? This is the problem with those in the cult of Trump. Nothing can be his fault, so if he completely fubs the response to not one, but two crises, it can't possibly be his fault. It must be some sort of plot.

SPC Kevin Ford -"A top congressional Republican told Fox News that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report shows the salacious Steele dossier used by the FBI to obtain surveillance warrants in the Russia probe was “false and fake,” questioning the origins of the investigation into the Trump campaign."
My concern was investigation on an American citizen with fake shit. It could happen to you.
I am not sure why you stated, "Just because the only part you cared about is how it reflected on Trump doesn't change the very real basis for the investigation." Do you know me?

The author lost me in the very first sentence. The author's hyperbole, from the very start, indicated that he had an agenda with that article. I side with the professional military leaders who felt compelled to speak up about the troubling signs they're seeing with this CinC.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - I won't call out General officers by name on a social media site. Not that dumb. But my organization hosts the annual C2 Summit where over 70 general officers including 14 four-stars attend to discuss the challenges in command and control. Suffice to say general officers cover the spectrum of liberal to conservative policy, and some are more vocal about it than others. We just don't hear the conservative generals on main stream media, because main stream media doesn't want to hear it if it doesn't fit their agenda.

Col Joseph Lenertz - "main stream media doesn't want to hear it if it doesn't fit their agenda"....can't the exact same thing be said about right-wing media? When I watch/listen to right-wing media sources, it's like I'm listening to an entirely different set of national and world events.

Yes, the same thing CAN be said about right wing media. Yes! We agree again. Now, can we also agree it would be better if all journalists tried harder to remove their own bias from their work?

Col Joseph Lenertz - I can agree with that. Unfortunately, it seems like everything in the country has been divided up between the left and the right. And, for anything to move towards the center (churches, media sources, universities, businesses, you name it), somebody has to move first. Nobody wants to take that first step because neither side trusts the other. The media subdivision really accelerated with the elimination of the FCC fairness doctrine.

This is a very pertinent and through article. Here is my clinical take. Sociology indicates that we all enact multiple roles in our lifetime. Each role involves responsibilities, obligations, and duties to self and others (role set). It is inevitable that role conflicts will occur. Just for instance, my political affiliation is less than 1% of who I am. Being a father used to be a significant role; now being a grandfather is less so. I've been a clinical psychologist and professor for over 50 yrs. now. In the military I was an AF ER medic.

So I tend to see the world from a clinical biopsychosocial perspective. My military ID is about 10% of how I see the world. In the military our oath is to protect others from all foreign and domestic enemies. As you know we can potentially disobey an order when we believe it to be illegal/immoral. At the Mount where I primarily taught, one of our core tenets is : " a life lived well is one in service to others". These retired generals can share their concerns. As a clinician, and based on 3 yrs. of research, I consider this C-in-C to be a clear and present danger to our Constitution and Rule-of-Law. So I speak out on professional platforms.
Thanks so much for posting this article!

SSG Brian G. - Do the clinical research which I have done back to his mid-adolescence. There is a plethora of public data from those who know him quite well. We refer to this as collateral data. So your comment is irrelevant. I presume you are not a clinician. I can send you copies of some of my published articles. Reach me " [login to see] ". Then we can have a more informative discussion.

SSgt Richard Kensinger - Again... NO clinician would ever so much as dare to do it without ever so much as a single sit down session. lol No, my comment is quite relevant. Your OPINION is just that and does not stand as fact. It is your OPINION Trump is this way... nothing more. And that means zip and in your own words, is irrelevant.

MSgt Steve Sweeney - AH Sarge you are so enlightening, I certainly hope you have been building up a stockpile of your medications, Nov is fast approaching and hiding all sharp objects , putting safety covers on the outlets and cabin child lock where the cleaning supplies are stored should be your priority. Can't have you injuring yourself when you rage this E-day. You can however have as many crayons as you want and 2 bottles of Elmers glue so your dietary needs are being met. Stay health their big Sarge I want to see how you are in Nov :)
