Here’s how the military could help treat and contain the coronavirus pandemic

This is a great piece, and talks about what I have been saying to people about the limitations of the Guard and Reserve vis-a-vis helping with the coronavirus outbreak. A former Army Combat Medic and then Medical Service officer, I have been a line medic with the Infantry, a Medical Platoon Leader in the Infantry, a field hospital commander, staff officer, and Field Medical Assistant with Enemy Prisoner of War Military Police Units, responsible for medical, environmental and preventive medical services. I am retired after 22 years of service since 2008. I am 57 years old and in good health. I am ready, willing and able to help run field medical facilities, while Guard and Reservist civilian health care workers and professionals do their jobs. There are probably many thousands of retired and former military medical personnel who would answer the call. All we need are ORDERS. Many of us, including myself are "essential workers" in our civilian jobs (I am responsible for facilities, health and safety for a public school district with no students currently), so we need ORDERS to leave those jobs to man mobile military medical facilities. Put us together and it would be like riding a bike. No bullets flying is a bonus. Do it NOW.
