LTC Stephen F. - I will tell you the Railroad story about Spencer...I lived there for 4 years...
On the way home to 47 Cranberry Meadow Road I would go over a RR bridge that was over a main line that saw 2-3 Mile plus long rains every day...I would stop and listen after the locomotives had gone by and were no longer in earshot....All you would hear was a quiet click clack for every car and watch this behemoth snake its way down the track and under the bridge...It NEVER got old....

I lived there TSgt Joe C., 9 Dale st then 47 Cranberry Meadow Rd. the second one was right in the middle of the Spencer Town Forrest and the fishing pond was 100 yards from the house...! That was one of my favorite places to live besides where I am now. At night you could not see the hand in front of your face as there were no streetlight in the Forest....The stars were phenomenal without any ambient light from the town, just lay on the lawn at night and be amazed....The local supermarket was Hodes, there was a Dairy Queen in town and I was managing the Friendly's down the street in Worcester. It was a quiet little town, drove through theere on RTE 20 awhile ago on my way back from CT...The Pike was blocked in Charlton so i took 20 East to Worc.
