I joined the Navy because I didn't want to get drafted and sent to Viet Nam. Didn't work, still got to go there but not as an SK. I was in CIC, 12 on 12 off. I grew up really fast, if not your dead. I was a kid. I enlisted when I was 17 1/2 The Brown Water Navy is definitely more challenging and a whole lot noisier and dangerous, but anytime your in country, it's a crap shoot. God willing i'm home

Patrol the water ways to engage any boat that didn't comply with the instructions of the day. I was married 23 yrs and my wife never knew what I did in the service, this was by choice. Don't feel like I am ignoring you if you ask a question and I dont answer, thats just me.

CIC. I really don't talk about this time in the service, it's just me. I feel better if I dont say anything. My philosophy, if you were there, you already know, if you weren't, read about it. Most Vets who were there, don't talk too much about it except a close knit group. It's only something you can talk about with a very close person. no offence

Most of the times we saw the same people but when we run across someone we haven't seen before, we took our time and did a thorough search and recover. Most were clean because they knew if they let us search them and we found something not right,it's the end for them
