Thank you my friend 1SG Steven Imerman for posting the unsurprising to me news that former chair of the Iowa Democratic Party "Michael Kiernan appeared on WHO Radio's Need to Know with Jeff Angelo to call for Iowa to fight back against those who try to blame the caucus counting problems on Iowa."
I concur with you my friend Steven that "This is a DNC mess [and] they need to quit passing the buck and own up to their own ineptitude."
"I’m getting sick, I’m getting tired of DNC here because they’ve done this to us,” said Kiernan. “What people don’t realize, year after year after year, they try to take away the Iowa caucuses from us, so isn’t this just the perfect excuse!”
At issue is the failure of the caucus app, which was supposed to tally the results of the Democratic caucuses across the state. Iowa Democrats were told they would be required to use the app.
“But enough is enough, frankly. Troy Price, who is the chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party, has just been getting kicked like a dog, and frankly, the person that needs to be kicked right now is Tom Perez,” said Kiernan. “I just truly believe this part of the DNC is trying to take away the Iowa caucuses.”
"There is an allegation that the national Democrats are sabotaging Iowa’s first-in-the-nation Caucus because they are tired of us voting against the establishment-approved candidates,” said Angelo. “Why do we not test this app? Why do we have this new untested app that we’re being told we have to use? Democratic activists were saying this app isn't working right.”

So they used a company who relies heavily on opensource software that has major issues with the SDLC and longevity. As a software developer, i've seen opensource software that looks great for short term projects, but has issues when the surrounding technologies [java] which go through major revisions that break "packages" that bind the layers together.
These types of software initiatives need an enterprise level stack that will be around for years and do not need to go through major revisions every few months to remain relevant. Some of the packages that company touts on their homepage have had unannounced deprecations in their base code every release. Security is a major concern with opensource software when the vulnerability scans constantly find out of date packages open to the public.
Since perez forced the company's software down the IDC's throats, maybe he needs to have his bank accounts audited for kickbacks.

I was going to say something similar. What idiot thought it was a good idea to use opensouce software for a vote tabulating and reporting app that needs to be incredibly secure to protect section integrity. This type of thinking coming from the left who couldn’t get the Obamacare site to work but think they can implement single payer healthcare. They can’t even get the caucus right.
