An Antarctic base recorded a temperature of 64.9 degrees F. If confirmed, it's a record high.

This is from NOAA:
The two major causes of global sea level rise are thermal expansion caused by warming of the ocean (since water expands as it warms) and increased melting of land-based ice, such as glaciers and ice sheets. The oceans are absorbing more than 90 percent of the increased atmospheric heat associated with emissions from human activity.
I am weary of taking extreme positions when the truth is probably be in the middle.

Lt Col Charlie Brown I volunteered for Deep Freeze/Winter Over. Unfortunately there is Not Much Need of Spooks in Antarctica. My Roommate in Sugar Grove, WV RM2 Alex Nehlebaef (Russian American) had that Winter Over Ribbon and I was Jealous.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, I just read an article recently (I think here on RP), that the ice mass of Antarctica is actually increasing (despite these increased temperatures). I'll try to find it for confirmation.
