It wasn’t just ‘country’ Cowboy! It was the music of the Youth culture of that time in AMERICAN History.

Thank you, my friend Sgt (Join to see) for posting the music video of the Charlie Daniel's Band performing his song "Long Haired Country Boy"
"Long Haired Country Boy" written by Charles Edward Daniels
Lyrics
"People say I'm no good, and crazy as a loon
'Cause I get stoned in the mornin', I get drunk in the afternoon
Kinda like my old blue tick hound, I like to lay around in the shade
And I ain't got no money, but I damn sure got it made
'Cause I ain't askin' nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
If you don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone
Preacher man talking on TV, puttin' down the rock and roll
Wants me to send a donation, 'cause he's worried about my soul
He said, "Jesus walked on the water.", and I know that it's true
But sometimes I think that preacher man, would like to do a little walkin' too
But I ain't askin' nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
If you don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone
A poor girl wants to marry, a rich girl wants to flirt
A rich man goes to college, a poor man goes to work
A drunkard wants another drink of wine, and a politician wants your vote
I don't want much of nothing at all, but I will take another toke
'Cause I ain't asking nobody for nothin'
If I can't get it on my own
If you don't like the way I'm livin'
You just leave this long haired country boy alone"

‘Brother’ ‘Jack’ got me in trouble quite a bit at the time I first heard Charlie Daniels! CWO3 (Join to see)

SPC Nancy Greene - Me too. I went to a Stones Concert in the Liberty Bowl Memphis 4 July 75. With Millington MATSG nearby there were lots of Navy/Marine types there. Unwisely, they started admission about mid-day, and the field was general admission. I think they call that a mosh pit these days. Lots of JD floating around, because it's TN liquor. There were some back up acts to kill the monotony; including Charlie Daniels, but basically these folks were getting toasted and baked by the sun, and chasing it with Jack. I got near the stage and some jarhead got real obnoxious about me getting too close. I wisely retreated to the farthest point from the stage and enjoyed the show from the farthest rim of the Liberty Bowl as the sun set. Best seat in the house. Good times. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/stones-visit-memphis-193525/
Tour rolls on through a spirited stop in Memphis before a drug bust sideshow in Texas
