Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day is a redux from January 3, 2016 and is titled "A Starry Night of Iceland." This spectacular photo was taken over Jökulsárlón, a large glacial lake in southeast Iceland at the edge of Vatnajökull National Park. The lake is considered as one of the natural wonders of Iceland. A total of six exposures were used to capture the auroral rings and their reflections. Do you see the Milky Way in the background? The Andromeda Galaxy is the little smudge in the center over the back of the ring.

It would seem as if "Astronomy" is getting low on images, given that their has been more on the Auroras, than of different new astronomy discoveries...,but then again, these Auroras are so beautiful! ...and good Sunday morning to you Maj William W. 'Bill' Price! More to follow...
