Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Decorating the Sky." From left to right, LDN 1622 (dark dust cloud, 500 light years away; Banard's Loop (red hydrogen gas emission nebula, 1,500 light years away; M78 (blue reflection nebula, also 1,500 light years away). All just north of the belt of Orion. It's beginning to look alot like Christmas.

Way too much light to see much of anything north of Orion where I live. This is a beautiful star field.
