Hate it. Not necessary. They are a SGM assigned to the Pentagon in order to advice the CJC on enlisted matters, they don't need their own special rank to let people know who they are. Plus they aren't part of the NCO support channel and thus aren't in a command capacity.

As an aside, the design of this rank makes sense for Army and Marines but if a Sailor or Airman take the position, the rank is going to look mighty silly.

Why? They also sport rockers & chevron's? I assume uniform color is taken into account.

All the branches will have their own version of the rank. They said that in the article.

Funny you should say that lol. Although, he's a PJ with a Bronze Star, so I'm not sure you can call him Chair Force. (The link is the wiki page of SEAC 4, who is indeed an Airman.)
